On Monday, June 15, a rioter/vandal was shot in New Mexico in a confrontation provoked by the leftists that wanted to remove a statue of a historical figure, a Spanish explorer. The incident is full of irony, which the liberal mainstream media and the Democrat politicians of New Mexico are ignoring.
The statue of 16th-century Spanish conquistador Juan de Oñate stands outside a museum in Old Town Albuquerque, and it was targeted by leftists who view him as white, European imperialist who conquered native people. However, local Americans of Hispanic descent see Onate as colonizer and historical figure.
The Alamo Cenotaph was vandalized with racist graffiti, probably on Friday, 5/29, in the early morning. The comments include "white supremacy" and "profits over people," with arrows pointing down. These are typical leftist slogans repeated by mindless snowflakes who have been influenced by liberal college professors.
The idea that the Alamo and the Cenotaph are symbols of white supremacy and Anglo-American imperialism has been an undercurrent in the entire remaking (Re-Imagine the Alamo) of the site. Leftist/liberal planners, who are not even Texans, have colluded with left-wing/liberal politicians to rewrite the history of the Alamo, and change its symbolism.
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus is once again playing race politics and showing that they don't understand (or care about) the meaning of the word "ILLEGAL" when it comes to immigration or laws. On Tuesday, March 31, the Hispanic Caucus, led by radical socialist-Democrat Congressman Joaquin Castro from San Antonio, demanded the release of hundreds of illegal aliens held in immigration detention be released.
It has been reported that four alien detainees and five Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employees have tested positive for the virus. Castor and the Caucus claim they want to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and stave off an outbreak within the jails.
The American Civil Liberties Union, the National Immigration Justice Center, and members of the Hispanic Caucus held a news conference with the liberal news media to ask the Trump administration to release then illegal aliens. "ICE must release all detainees now before lives are lost," said Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, chairman of the Hispanic Caucus.
It is curious and ironic that the Hispanic Caucus and the leftist pro-alien groups don't ask that the illegal aliens be released back to their home countries.
The death of the black man in Minneapolis while in the custody of the police is tragic and disturbing. However, the resulting comments and actions about police officers and race relations are also distressing.
If we're going to talk about police brutality and racism, I want to talk about the anti-social behavior and the breakdown of the family in minority communities. I want to discuss teen pregnancy, abortions absentee fathers, and the collapse of the traditional family in minority communities.
I want to talk about black-on-black shootings, the "gangsta" culture among young minority people, and the attitude among some Hispanics that the border doesn't exist. I want to discuss the lack of appreciation for academic achievement and scholarship, but the sense of entitlement based on perceived victimization, including affirmative action.
Finally, let's talk about the culture of poverty and the lack of respect for traditional American values. Let's talk about the anger and disrespect toward America preached by some black and Hispanic community leaders.
It's sad how some people have assumed that I am defending the accused police officers in Minneapolis. Instead, I'm condemning the rioting and supporting police officers in general, because all minorities are not "thugs" and all police officers are not racist.
The reactions to my comments show how emotional the issue of police-community relations has become, thanks to Obama and other race-baiting liberals and leftists. As I have mentioned many times, I was born in public housing, raised in a Spanish-language dominant home in a working-class community, and I never had problems with the police or the Border Patrol.
Let's have an honest discussion about race, ethnicity, and even illegal immigration without the assumption of white-male privilege, American imperialism, and racism. Let's talk about people's behavior and values.
During the Democrats’ presidential candidate debate on Tuesday, Feb. 25, Bernie Sanders showed his racism, and the liberal news media didn’t even blink. Sanders said, “And I’ll tell you what else we’re going to do, we’re going to provide help to the African-American, Latino, Native American community to start businesses to sell legal marijuana rather than let a few corporations control the legalized marijuana market.”
My interpretation was, if minorities are going to sell and buy drugs, let them sell and buy legal drugs.
I was shocked and angered because it was a racist comment, and other Democratic candidates and the moderators from CBS News let him get away with it. No one pointed it out nor asked him to explain it.
Democrats have always had a racist view of minorities in America. They have segregated them openly and directly as in Jim Crow, and indirectly “to preserve their language and culture.” They also lower standards for achievement because their expectations for minorities are low, such as affirmative action, which reduces rules for minority participation.
Apparently, to socialist Bernie Sander, who doesn’t believe in private business, selling and buying drugs, is this the extent of his view of minorities’ entrepreneurship. Will he next encourage legalized prostitution and robbery?
Democrats, especially socialists like Sanders, do not have a moral code, and legalizing criminal behavior is their best way to address crime. Rather than raising the standards of acceptable conduct for minorities, they lower social expectations and decriminalize criminal behavior.
When we treat people as they are, they remain as they are and don’t progress. When we treat them with higher expectations, and as if they are what they could and should be, they will become better people. They will have higher standards for achievement and life.
All Americans, including minority leaders, should denounce Sanders’ and the Democrats’ “soft racism” which excuses and encourages bad behavior. It cripples minority achievement and progress.
CBS News and the rest of the liberal news media should stop viewing minorities as victims. They should also reject the explanation and narrative of “soft racism,” which excuses and encourages criminal behavior to be acceptable.
America is the greatest nation in the world because it was built on the ethic of hard, honest work. Minorities and all Americans can use that ethic to achieve and progress.
