The recent incidents of media bias including the BuzzFeed false report about Trump and the Covington Catholic school fake news reports about racist students are examples of national media bias. However, there are many examples of local media bias like the article about the Dreamers written by Lomi Kriel that appears in today, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 on the front page of the liberal San Antonio Express-News.
Lomi Kriel is the immigration reporter at the Houston Chronicle who owns and manages the SA Express. She is credited with being the first reporter to uncover the Trump administration’s separation of “migrant families” at the border in November 2017. Somehow she misses the point that these illegal alien families would not be separated if they didn’t enter the U.S. illegally, nor questions how many are "real" families.
In her article today, Kriel interviews five liberal pro-illegal alien persons and how Trump is not doing anything to help DACA recipients. She has comments from Sanaa Abrar, director for United We Dream, Houston DACA recipient Jesús Contreras, director of government relations for the American Immigration Lawyers Association Greg Chen, deputy political director at the American Civil Liberties Union Lorella Praeli, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
On the other hand, Kriel has two brief comments from conservatives. She quotes Ann Coulter, claiming Coulter is “influential among Trump’s base.” She also has comments from Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
Kriel ignores that Trump has proposed twice to help DACA recipients, including the current proposal to resolve the government shutdown and build the border wall. She conveniently ignores that Democrats are balking and that liberal activists are demanding open borders and that the abolishment of ICE.
It would be good if Kriel and all other news reporters stopped being agents of the Democratic Party and ceased promoting their liberal agenda. It would also be good if there were a "fair" media at local levels.
