A coalition of Texas business organizations including the Texas Association of Business and the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, have declared their opposition to a federal lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that seeks to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). They claim that terminating DACA will cause “irreparable harm to the Texas economy” and reduce economic activity in the state by more than $6 billion annually.
The DACA was started by President Barack Obama to provide illegal aliens who came as minors to the U.S. with work permits and protection from deportation. The legal brief estimates the number of DACA recipients or “Dreamers” living in Texas is about 126,000.
Democrats, leftist activists and the liberal media have been screaming “abolish ICE” in the wake of immigration law enforcement under Pres. Trump’s Zero Tolerance policy. However, when the time came to put-up or shut-up in a congressional vote, most Democrats quietly voted “present” to avoid appearing antagonistic toward immigration law enforcement.
Most House Democrats voted “present” on Tuesday, July 17 on a resolution that would force them to clarify whether they support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or not. The final vote saw just 18 Democrats vote for the resolution, and 34 Democrats vote against it, but the vast majority of Democrats, 133, voted "present."
Instead of voting to abolish ICE as their radical leftist constituency has been demanding, the House passed a nonbinding resolution saying lawmakers supported the "officers and personnel who carry out the important mission of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement." A two-thirds majority was needed to pass it, and because Democrats voted "present" instead of "no," it passed easily in a 244-35 vote.
A pair of misguided millennials were arrested by the police on Saturday, June 23, in connection with the vandalism of two San Antonio missions. The graffiti message they left appeared to be in response to the ongoing border crisis, although the affidavit did not state a motive behind the pair's alleged actions.
One message read, "I really don't care. Do u?" which seems to reference the message printed on the back of first lady Melania Trump's jacket as she boarded the plane after visiting migrant children in South Texas on Thursday. The other messages written on the missions included "F--- ICE," along with some indistinguishable characters.
This is further evidence of how the liberal media hysteria over the detention of illegal alien families is affecting some people. Earlier this week, a Florida man was arrested for threatening to kill Florida Republican Congressman Brian Mast’s children over the issue.
The liberal Media and the Democrats seem to have lost their collective minds with publicity stunts and outrageous comments designed to embarrass the Trump Administration and undermine border security. It’s obvious that many emotional people are being inspired to take negative, even criminal actions, and San Antonio is not immune.
Good manners and civility seem to have been replaced with vulgarity and confrontation as outlined in Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” by the liberal Media and the Democrats. Voters should remember in November.
Mexican nationalist socialist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has won the Mexican presidential election. His victory signals a new and dangerous chapter in U.S.-Mexico relations and dangers on the border.
Obrador is compared to Venezuela’s socialists Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro who have been extremely antagonistic toward the U.S., and who have wrecked the Venezuelan economy. The U.S. should be prepared for Obrador’s provocative and antagonistic behavior on its southern border.
He has said he will encourage Mexicans to swarm across the border into the U.S. because it’s a “human right”. This could mean greater, more organized efforts to overwhelm the border much in the same way Palestinians have tried to cross the Israeli border.
Illegal alien Ernesto Esquivel-Garcia, 20, was arrested and charged with the death of Jared Vargas's in San Antonio. He was one of several people taken to police headquarters for questioning in the case and was arrested following the interviews and his confession. He was being held on an ICE detainer.
Police on Monday arrested Garcia after he admitted to killing Vargas and attempting to burn the body at a North Side apartment complex. He was charged with murder, arson and abuse of a corpse, and booked into the Bexar County Jail on a $195,000 bond.
