Hearing on Bexar County Contract to Mail Voter Registration Forms
A hearing scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16, in San Antonio civil district court will likely determine the fate of a targeted voter registration program approved by the Bexar County Commissioner’s Court two weeks ago. The program, operated by Civic Government Solutions, a liberal Democrat-leaning organization, will mail voter registration forms to addresses without assurance that the persons are alive, citizens, or still live in the county.
Bexar County commissioners voted 3-1 to award a $393,000 contract to Civic Government Solutions (CGS) to send voter registration forms to “unregistered” persons. Commissioner Grant Moody was the lone opponent to the contract.
Opponents have complained that the contract between Bexar County and Civic Government Solutions potentially invites election fraud. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton claimed that CGS CEO Jeremy Smith has previously expressed interest in getting people to vote for progressive political candidates.
In a time when illegal aliens are flooding Bexar County and the nation, randomly and carelessly mailing voter registration forms without verifying the person’s eligibility can lead to confusion and fraud.
However, Democrats, who stand to profit from the program, have claimed opposition to it amounts to voter suppression of minorities and discrimination. They have held several protests, and even the New York State Attorney General has expressed an interest in getting involved.
It is also hypocritical when the Biden Justice Department, led by Merrick Garland, expresses concerns about Russian meddling in the 2024 election but does not seem concerned about cleaning the voter rolls, ballot harvesting, or voter fraud in elections.
Liberal Democrat Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales, a George Soros-funded politician, has claimed that CGS’s efforts under the contract will be non-partisan. But Gonzales himself has been caught working with radical leftist groups on issues like prosecuting police officers.
Gonzales has tried to gain high moral ground in public by saying that Paxton is attempting “to sow distrust in our democratic process.” However, why do he and other Democrats protest so loud about cleaning the voter rolls and verifying voter eligibility?
While Democrats and the liberal press deny it, voter fraud, ballot harvesting, and election tampering are real. The Infamous “Box 13” in 1948 helped Congressman Lyndon Johnson win a senatorial election, eventually leading him to the White House.
The deadline to register to vote in Texas in November’s general election is Oct. 7, so a ruling on the temporary restraining order will need to be made in the next few weeks, if not sooner. This voter registration program could be another effort by Democrats to create confusion in a close presidential election.
