These are just a few of the reports regarding illegal alien criminals reported in the news from June 2-8, 2024.

New York City

A teenage Venezuelan migrant was arrested for shooting two NYPD cops after they tried pulling him over. Police approached Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata, 19, as he drove the illegal scooter the wrong way down a one-way highway in Queens on Sunday night, June 2.

Maryland

Baltimore County authorities do not routinely detain illegal immigrants on behalf of federal immigration officials, even if they are charged with committing crimes in the county. When an unlawful resident is accused of a crime, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) usually files a “detainer” with local law enforcement, asking them to keep the individual incarcerated until federal officials can take them into custody.

Also, a recent case showed the impact of liberal “social justice” in arresting and detaining illegal alien criminals. In May 2023, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Baltimore apprehended Raul Calderon-Interiano near his residence in Baltimore. Calderon-Interiano, a 25-year-old Guatemalan national, had been convicted of sex crimes against a minor in Maryland and posed a serious threat to other children in the area. However, instead of being turned over to ERO, Calderon-Interiano was released and committed more crimes.

Massachusetts

The Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston unit recently apprehended a Colombian national charged with a disturbing array of sexual assault and assault crimes against a Rhode Island resident with a severe mental handicap. This case serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address the scourge of sexual violence perpetrated by noncitizens who seek to exploit the vulnerable.

Texas

Just over 24 hours after Governor Greg Abbott launched the “Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List,” the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced the first arrest from that list. Servando Trejo Duran Jr., a 62-year-old from Mexico, was taken into custody in Baytown by DPS Special Agents and Troopers assigned to the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center in Houston.

In San Antonio/Bexar County, twelve people were hospitalized, and seven smuggling suspects were arrested on Thursday after authorities found more than two dozen migrants who had been driven from the border packed in a secret compartment of a trailer with little water and in sweltering heat.

The smuggling sting came two days after Democrat Sheriff Javier Salazar attended a White House event with President Biden regarding the plans to impose restrictions on migrants seeking asylum. Salazar supports Biden’s efforts to control the border and illegal immigration before the November elections.

California

The California state assembly’s majority Democrats, led by Speaker Robert Rivas, booted GOP Assemblyman Bill Essayli from the Judiciary Committee as a punishment. Mr. Essayli’s offense was forcing Democrats to vote on his bill that would have deported any illegal alien convicted of crimes against children. It was shot down by the Democrat majority, 36-14, amidst accusations that Essayli was a racist.

New Mexico

Two men were arrested for allegedly kidnapping two migrant children north of Las Cruces, New Mexico. The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) reported that an officer was patrolling Interstate 25 when he saw an SUV. The child passengers in the backseat were not wearing seatbelts. A simple police check led to the arrest of kidnappers and the rescue of children.
