It has been reported that a staffer for the Bexar County Republican Party severely criticized “Christians” for the “No Confidence” vote against Texas Speaker Joe Straus last Monday, July 10. This appears to be part of an effort to divide the GOP into social conservative and fiscal conservative camps, and to isolate the social conservatives as out-of-step, politically incorrect, religious fanatics.
Straus has said the called the “Bathroom bill” and other conservative legislation “horse manure”, and his supporters have rally to support him by saying the bills are unnecessary and they will hurt Texas economically.
It appears Hispanic Texans may have been “played” again by state Republican leaders seeking to promote themselves rather than truly grow the Party.
On Wednesday, May 17, Texas GOP chairman Tom Mechler was in San Antonio supporting a Hispanic outreach event called “Hispanic Engagement Dime” tour. Accompanying Mechler was Rick Figueroa, a member of the Trump Hispanic advisory council and key figure in organizing the Tour.
The “Tour”, which has been to several cities including Laredo, the Rio Grande Valley, Houston, and Dallas, was designed as a “listening” session for Hispanics to tell the GOP leaders what they want and suggest for greater Hispanic support of the GOP. People in attendance were divided into groups and notes were taken by facilitators.
There was some skepticism from grassroots activists because there have been so many “Hispanic outreach” projects and events in the past 40 years, and Democrats still dominate South Texas and most Hispanic communities.
Fake News: The San Antonio Express Promotes the Democrat Candidates, Already.
Bill Lambrecht, reporter for the liberal/leftist San Antonio Express-News, didn’t waste any time in providing a front page fake news bias report regarding the local run-off results last night (Tuesday, May 22, 2018). Lambrecht wrote glowing of Democrat runoff winners while hardly mentioning the Republicans, and voters should get ready for this type of slanted pro-Democrat reporting through until November.
Lambrecht gushes about Gina Ortiz-Jones, who challenge Republican incumbent congressman Will Hurd in TX Dist.-23, and writes extensively about Joseph Kopser who will run against Republican Chip Roy in TX Dist-21.
Arvind Dilawar, an independent writer and “journalist”, has written a piece in the New York Daily News claiming the Santa Fe school was the result of “white supremacy”. It is interesting how the editors of a major newspaper like the NY Daily News can allow such a bias and bigoted commentary to be published, even as an opinion.
