Former HUD Secretary and San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro is going to the Iowa State Fair to prepare for a possible run for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020. He has been laying the ground work and is now starting to make the rounds to get public attention, and Republicans and conservative should be aware.
Castro, a darling of south Texas Democrats, has been running a PAC, writing a book, and building a grass-roots network. He has also been helping 2018 candidates around the country get elected to get their support later. For example, last Wednesday, Aug. 8, in San Antonio, Castro spoke at a SA city council meeting in favor of the city forcing private businesses to provide sick leave to their employees. This shows his support for extreme socialist policies.
Castro said the ordinance was “well-thought-out”, and “absolutely tremendous opportunity to impact the life of hundreds of thousands” of workers and families in San Antonio. Since he has never run a private for-profit enterprise, he has no idea (nor does he care) what impact government interference has on private freedom and economic growth.
One of his political allies at the city council meeting stated regarding the ordinance, “It’s going to pass. You can either do it the hard way or we’ll just go to the streets.” Such is the leftist attitude of Castro and his friends and allies.
Castro and his twin, Congressman Joaquin of San Antonio, will always do and say what is politically expedient to further their cause. Democrat candidates in conservative Texas have been distancing themselves from the radical leftist positions that national Democrats have taken…only to have better chance of being elected.
In a recent interview on CBS radio, Congressman Castro did not endorse the left’s calls to impeach the president or abolish ICE. Because this is conservative Texas, the Castro twins are more interested in getting elected, than revealing their true intentions.
Similar to former president Barak Obama, the Castro twins are the product of a single mother who had leftist political and social ideals. Their mother, Rosa Castro (they never took their father’s last name), was a member of the leftist radical La Raza Unida party movement in south Texas in the 1970s.
La Raza Unida believed Texas and other southwestern states were “occupied” and “colonized” by the Anglo-Americans. Rosa Castro even criticized the defenders of the Alamo on one occasion.
Castro is big on race and identity politics. He and his twin, Joaquin, benefited from the government’s social engineering programs like affirmative action to attended Stanford and Harvard, and Julian will undoubtedly use his “Hispanic” identity to promote his candidacy.
Voters outside of San Antonio and Texas need to be aware that Castro left the city deep in debt, with a bloated bureaucracy, a high crime rate, and a $500,000/yr city manager. He can be described as a Hispanic version of Obama.
Julian Castro is selling himself as the next president of the United States, and buyers should beware.
