This list is a partial listing of the shootings and stabbings in San Antonio from Tuesday, March 8 to Friday, March 18. The reports come from local news reports and do not include beatings and assaults, which the news media does not report.
Citizens and taxpayers should recognize that while radical leftist City leaders continue to demand “police accountability” and demand restructuring (defunding) of the San Antonio Police Department, the crime and violence continue to escalate.
Most recently, Ananda Tomas, who leads the leftist, anti-police group ACT 4 SA, has demanded police transparency and accountability following the police shooting. The man had warrants, a history of violence against police officers, and allegedly pulled a gun.
While demands police accountability, which demands accountability of criminals? San Antonio also has a liberal/leftist District Attorney (Joe Gonzalez) who does not prosecute “minor” crimes.
Gonzales has an agreement with the leftist Texas Organizing Project to provide a list of people “eligible” for lowered bail. But unfortunately, many of the persons bailed out by TOP are repeat offenders who return to their criminal activities.
Further complicating public safety, the anti-police political atmosphere has created staff and talent shortages in the SAPD as more officers retire and leave than join the force. The SAPD is not replacing the officers as fast as they leave the SAPD.
The citizens and business owners of San Antonio must stand behind the police officers against their antagonistic employer, the City of San Antonio. Imagine working for an employer that wants to abolish your job. Imagine putting your life on the line daily, but your employer wants to treat you like other paper-pushing city bureaucrats.
San Antonio citizens, business owners, and voters need to wake up.
