Crime and Bail Reform in San Antonio and Bexar County

SAPD badge In 2021, San Antonio police reported the highest homicide count since 1994, when the city was riddled with drive-by shootings and gang violence. City leaders and the news media ask why crime and violence is so high, and the answer is in the phrase "repeat offfenders." Criminals do not fear the current justice system.

Last year, 160 people lost their lives at the hands of another person in San Antonio, according to police records obtained and analyzed by KSAT 12. The tally is higher than the most recent homicide spike in 2016, when 151 killings were reported in San Antonio. It is the highest since 1994, when 194 homicides were recorded.

The San Antonio Police Chief has spoken out on three occasions about the “repeat offenders” that are being released by a liberal Bexar County judicial system. The lawful citizens of Bexar County and San Antonio should appreciate Chief McManus’ honesty.

Blaming and Suing the Police, Again

SAPD badge In June, an attorney representing a San Antonio family of a 13-year-old boy who the SAPD shot announced that they would file a civil rights lawsuit against the city, SAPD, and the police officers involved. The boy was shot when he attempted to flee in a stolen car and run over the officers.

The teen’s family was allowed to view portions of the body camera videos. However, their attorney says the videos do not reflect what San Antonio police have been telling the public. According to the family’s civil rights attorney, the officers did not have sufficient time to obtain a target or warn the driver that he would shoot or gain compliance.

A recent report says police officers are increasingly second-guessing themselves and hesitating to act, even in danger. This hesitation is causing a delay in response time and giving criminals an advantage to flee.

Rather than blaming the police, we should ask what a 13-year-old was doing driving a stolen car? Had he not been a stolen car, he would not have been confronted by the police.

Cornyn Booed at Texas GOP Convention

Texas Senator John Cornyn was heavily booed by the audience at Friday’s (June 17) Texas GOP convention in Houston for his role in negotiating a gun control bill with the Democrats. Grassroots citizens fear their 2nd Amendment rights will be compromised away on gun control.

Some grassroots Republican activists have labeled Cornyn a “RINO” — short for “Republican in name only” — for his role in brokering a gun deal after the Uvalde shootings. As a result, convention delegates chanted “no red flags” and “say no to Cornyn” during his speech Friday afternoon.

Their concern is that Cornyn has called for stricter gun restrictions, such as financial incentives for states to enact and enforce “red flag laws” that allow law enforcement to confiscate guns from citizens under certain circumstances. Cornyn also supports expanded background checks to include the juvenile records of people under twenty-one.

American citizens have seen the government’s power and authority grow since the 1960s while their rights have shrunk. Citizens do not need more laws that limit their rights. Instead, we should punish criminals and hospitalize the mentally ill. People who are productive, law-abiding, and responsible should not have their rights limited.

Cornyn should be careful in negotiating with Democrats who want to control and transform America. Leftists have always wanted to take over America “by any means necessary,” including deceit.

The 2nd Amendment is meant for people to protect themselves from tyrants, not only for hunting. Cornyn needs to listen to the grassroots constituents.

George Soros Targets Spanish Speakers in America

George Soros has purchased several Spanish-language radio stations, including one in San Antonio, to promote his leftist agenda. The target audience is the newly arrived illegal aliens that will be brainwashed into believing they are "victims." Never mind that they came of their own free will and entered illegally.

However, it's sad that many fellow conservative podcasters, particularly Hispanic podcasters, view each other as competition rather than as support or network. The battle for the hearts and minds of people in America will be fought through information and social media in English and Spanish. 
Conservatives should collaborate and support each other in English and Spanish media. The future of America is at stake. 
 

Local Democrats Continue to Blame Guns, Not Their Own Policies

On Saturday, June 4, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff sent a letter to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, requesting the need for a special session on gun violence following the mass shooting in Uvalde that killed 19 students and two teachers. Unfortunately, Texas’ state and local Democrat officials continue to blame guns for the crime and violence but ignore the liberal/leftist government policies that do not punish or incarcerate criminals.
