The Violence Contunues in San Antonio

In the seven days between Monday, Aug. 12, and Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, San Antonio and Bexar County experienced another violent week, while City leaders (with the help of the local news) proclaimed violent crime was down. San Antonio has the same problems with crime and violence as other major liberal-run cities because of the rise and political takeover by radical anti-police, pro-social justice radicals.

According to local news reports, there were 11 shootings, two stabbings, five people injured, and four killed during the Aug. 12-18, 2024, week. There were 45 shootings, 15 stabbings, 45 people wounded, and 15 killed from July 8 to Aug. 18, 2024. It is important to note that not all violent crimes are reported to the police and by the local news, so this is an undercount.

Citizens and taxpayers should not blame the police for the high crime. They should blame the liberal District Attorney and the SA city council, who oppose law enforcement, excuse criminals, and support the poverty industry.

The local news also helps to promote the lie, while the downtown businesses are desperate to find a real solution.

Citizens and taxpayers are told and expected to believe what politicians and the news tell them about crime, but not what they see with their own eyes.

Liberal, soft-on-crime policies and practices have caused this crime wave. The border and the jails are wide open; the police are restrained, disrespected, and disregarded; and the George Soros-funded DA is more interested in punishing police than criminals.

City politicians and bureaucrats undermine the justice system because they see it as racist and fear loud leftist protesters and the local news. However, their actions have caused more chaos and crime. And then they cover their failures with lies.

If San Antonio is going to address crime and violence successfully, it needs to do the following.

First, it must hire at least 200 more police officers. SAPD is severely understaffed, and the liberal/leftist anti-police county and city officials are defunding traditional law enforcement in a backdoor manner.

Second, Bexar County and San Antonio need a District Attorney who supports the police and traditional law enforcement and who prosecutes criminals. The current liberal/leftist D.A. looks for reasons to indict police officers and shame them with the news media. He releases repeat offenders and works with radical leftist groups who want justice administered politically.

Third, San Antonio needs a mayor and a city council that supports law enforcement, not undermines the officers. The city has established SAPD policies that endanger the police and favor criminals, all because the city is afraid of bad news media.

Fourth, politicians, community leaders, and local news media must stop excusing crime and criminal behavior because of race and income. They must also stop listening to the loud, liberal/leftist, anti-law enforcement groups who want a socio-economic revolution and who portray all police as racist villains. They should also stop funding community groups who claim to “work for peace” but who only play liberal/leftist politics.

Fifth, city leaders must support the police in fighting crime proactively and prevent crime before it happens rather than reacting to it afterward. Since the George Floyd riots, the city has limited police work even though the well-trained officers have never had an incident or situation like the George Floyd incident. The anti-police atmosphere at city hall is the result of radical liberals/leftists who have an agenda. They do not deal with reality.

Finally, all city-elected and community leaders must stop being soft on crime. Liberals tolerate and excuse criminal behavior among certain groups and classes and blame racism and poverty. However, if you excuse and tolerate any crime, you get worse and worse behavior.
