Tren De Aaragua in San Antonio

The Tren de Aragua Venezuelan gang has been making headlines in New York, Colorado, Chicago, and now in Texas in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. On Saturday, Oct. 5, San Antonio police, backed by the Texas Dept. of Public Safety, raided the Palatine Apartments on Sahara Street near the airport.

According to San Antonio police, they were charged with narcotics violations, human smuggling, and threats to apartment employees at the complex on Sahara Drive near Highway 281.

San Antonio police records show that in the year leading up to the raid, there were about 1,500 calls for service at the complex’s primary address on Sahara Drive, near U.S. Highway 281 and San Pedro Avenue. That includes more than 140 calls for shots fired, 14 burglary cases, and 12 assault in progress cases.

The presence of the dangerous Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, in the city has caused alarm. Many citizens question how we got to this point and what the city is doing to protect them.

The facts are these.

1. The gangs are illegal aliens who are the result of the Biden/Harris open border that allowed millions of unvetted, unchecked foreigners into our country.
2. The presence of the gangs in San Antonio is the result of a Migrant Center located on San Pedro Avenue, sponsored by Catholic Charities, and funded by the Biden/Harris administration.
3. Illegal aliens who have crossed the border and presented themselves to the Border Patrol are referred to and processed at the Migrant Center.
4. Most of these illegals cannot have their background checked because they hide (discard) their identity, and their home countries have no way of records.
5. They often come from unfriendly countries that will keep information private.
6. The presence of illegal aliens in the city attracts other illegals, many of whom have crossed, avoiding detection because they are criminals or terrorists.
7. Because the city is a sanctuary city (though the mayor, city council, and city manager claim they aren’t), some public programs and benefits keep them here.
8. San Antonio’s large Hispanic/Latino population lets illegals from Latin America feel comfortable.
9. Thus, San Antonio has a large and growing illegal alien population.
10. It has not taken illegal alien criminals long to learn about liberal “social justice” and that many cities have laws that are not enforced or police that are limited in their actions. Thus, misdemeanor crime has skyrocketed, and that leads to worse crimes.
11. San Antonio’s Mayor Ron Nirenberg has said little about the illegal alien criminal gangs and the public safety of the citizens. He seems more interested in climate change.
12. The city’s SAPD does not ask about a crime suspect’s immigration status, so we do not know how many illegal aliens are involved in crimes in San Antonio.
13. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has investigated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for flying some illegals to Massachusetts (never mind that Catholic Charities flies them all over the country) but does not investigate if there are any illegal alien criminals or terrorists at the Migrant Center.
14. Liberal George Soros-funded District Attorney Joe Gonzales has nothing about prosecuting illegal alien criminals.
15. Local pro-open borders organizations loudly protest any enforcement of immigration laws that protect illegal alien criminals.

Illegal alien crime is the tip of the iceberg in the problems that the city is facing. This is the “Second Phase of the Border Crisis,” the first being the overwhelming of the border by millions of aliens. Taxpayers must pay health care, education, housing, and unemployment bills.

As for the crime, doesn’t San Antonio have enough homegrown criminals without importing foreign criminals?
